Southwest Region Event: DACA & TPS: The Impact on Healthcare

In approximately 18 months, hundreds of thousands of people protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) & Temporary Protected Status (TPS) programs may be forced to return to countries that they have fled, some more than 20 years ago. These people were granted protected status due to violence from ongoing armed conflicts, environmental disasters, other extraordinary and temporary conditions, or as children brought to the US with parents who are illegal immigrants. Thousands of these people live in the south and southwest regions of Florida and many work in our healthcare organizations as nurses, CNAs, housekeeping, dietary, etc.

Please join us for this very important presentation to learn more about the DACA and TPS programs, the impact on healthcare organizations because of ending the program, as well as other programs and available resources in our community. Our expert speakers, Yemisi Oloruntola-Coates, Lee Health System, Director of Diversity and Patient Care Civil Rights, and Indera DeMine Immigration Attorney will present the current protected status issues and other immigration issues employers and their employees are facing.
