Greetings District 10 Members!

As we welcome spring into our lives, District 10 is working hard to cultivate relationships with all district 10 members, FNA members, legislative members and our community members.

The Executive Board of District 10 has been working hard preparing for our community event with the Boys Scouts of America. The name of our event is the Amazing World of Nursing. This year, we have focused on exposing boys in our community to nursing. We will be working closely with the FNSA of Santa Fe Community College. The nursing students have been working closely with the Executive Board and have contributed significantly to our endeavors. The location of the event is Santa Fe Community College at 10 am until 2 pm, March 23, 2009.

Most recently, Annmarie J. Farro and I (Angela E. Raiford) travelled to Tallahassee to meet with our local legislative assistants, Representatives and Senator. We met with Senator Oelrich, Speaker of the House Cretul, Representative Chestnut and Representative Debbie Boyd. We had a wonderful time and expressed our ideas about some wonderful bills that will promote the profession of nursing. We will tell you more about this week at a later date.

It is time to vote! This is our call for nominations for delegates to our state convention and Executive Board of Directors. We will be seeking delegates for our State conference in September. This is a special time for FNA as it is the 100th year of FNA’s existence. The convention will be September 22-26, 2009. Likewise, the office of secretary and 2nd Vice-President are open for nominations. If you would like to become involved with your local leadership, nominate yourself or someone you know. We have approximately 37 delegate seats available... so get involved. Come participate with the state delegation to help shape your organization.
