NURSES WEEK TO BE CELEBRATED MAY 6-12
"Caring Today For A Healthier Tomorrow" is the 2010 theme of the weeklong event.

(YOUR CITY/FL/MONTH 2009) - The work of America's 2.9 million registered nurses to save lives and maintain the health of millions of individuals is the focus of this year's National Nurses Week, to be celebrated May 6-12 throughout the U.S.

Using the theme, "Caring Today For A Healthier Tomorrow," the American Nurses Association (ANA) and its 54 constituent associations, including the Florida Nurses Association (FNA), will highlight the diverse ways in which registered nurses - the largest healthcare profession - are working to improve health care. From acute bedside nursing to long-term care, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding healthcare needs of American society.

National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. During this week, registered nurses in (your city, state, or district) will be honored by (list activities here). These public events will be held (list locations, dates and times).

ANA and FNA, through its members, advance the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting economic and general welfare, promoting a positive and realistic view of nursing and lobbying Congress and regulatory agencies on healthcare issues affecting nursing and the public.

The FNA mission statement is to serve and support all registered nurses through professional development, advocacy, and the promotion of excellence at every level of professional nursing practice. For more information on FNA, please visit www.floridanurse.org.
