Disaster Preparedness for Nurses

Hurricane season starts June 1st! Do you have a plan for when natural disasters strike? This webinar will cover the challenges that nurses face as they respond to emergencies in their community. Learn about how to prepare yourself and your family for emergencies as well as what you need to know for working in emergency shelters.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the challenges that nurses face as they respond to emergencies in their communities.
  • Discuss what plans nurses should be making as they prepare to provide care during a disaster.
  • Determine what clinical competencies are needed to work in the special needs shelter and work with the employer to provide training.
  • Describe self -care issues that nurses must remember when working in the Shelter.

This course has been approved for one (1) nurse contact hour by the Florida Nurses Association (CE provider # 50-3103)
