This Webinar will train the APRN to identify FL and national legislative requirements relating to the prescribing of controlled substances. The APRN will be able to implement patient assessment strategies including tools to assess risk of abuse, misuse, or addiction when prescribing opioids. The APRN will be able to identify alternatives and adjuncts to opioid analgesics for acute and chronic pain control measures. The APRN will be able to safely initiate therapy, modify dose, and discontinue control substances use.

This course has been approved by the Veterans Administration for 3.0 CME. This course has been approved for 3.0 Contact Hour by the Florida Nurses Association.

Contact Hours: This course has been approved for 3.0 nurse contact hours by the Florida Nurses Association (FL BON #50-3103). To receive credit for this course you will need to attend the entire webinar and complete a post-webinar evaluation which will be emailed to you by a staff member after the webinar (please note it may be sent the following day). After all evaluations have been processed, staff will email you a certificate and post your contact hour to CEBroker (this may take up to two weeks).

CME: This course has been approved for 3.0 CME through the Veteran's Administration. A certificate of completion will be emailed to you with your contact hour certificate. Please note that you will be responsible for reporting your CME hours.
