Are you interested in becoming more actively involved in the health policy dialogue? Do you want to become an advocate for nursing related issues but aren't sure where to start? If so, you may be interested in joining FNA's Legislative Action Team, is a program in which members will "adopt" a legislator and serve as a nursing ambassador on FNA policy issues throughout the year.

The FNA Lobbying Team will be hosting a 1.5 hour training for volunteers interested in joining FNA's Legislative Action Teamon February 9 at 7pm EST. Below is the outline for the program. This is a free educational event offered to FNA members only and includes 1 contact hour, certification, and pin for those who complete the program.

Learning Objectives

• Outline the process for locating and contacting your legislator.
• List the 10 commandments of speaking with your legislator.
• Describe the anatomy of a bill and its life cycle.
• Explain the importance of nurses being involved with legislative advocacy.
• Articulate the link between policy-making and nursing practice.
• Discuss FNA's legislative platform and priority issues for the 2021 session.

We need nurses to connect with every member of the Florida Legislature. We need your support to make sure issues affecting nurses are at the forefront of this legislative session.
