    NURSING ICON AWARDS

    Awards Nomination Process

The nomination window for the Icon Awards has closed.

The FNA honors excellence in professional nursing by recognizing individuals and groups who are recommended and selected by their peers for formal recognition. Nurses who are nominated excel, lead, and innovate through their exemplary courage, community service, advocacy, research and innovation, and years of commitment to the profession. Receiving a peer award is one of the highest honors accorded a professional nurse. For that reason, the awards program of the FNA shall be conducted fairly, impartially, and shall endeavor always to honor representative candidates worthy of the awards.

To nominate someone for an FNA ICON Award:

    • Download the Awards Nomination Guidelines and review the general procedures section and the individual award's requirements.

    BUSINESS MEETING

    About the Business Meeting

The Annual Business Meeting is where FNA members come together to conduct the official business of the Association. It’s your chance to vote on bylaws amendments, reference proposals, and other key issues shaping the future of nursing in Florida. During election years, the newly elected Board of Directors is also sworn in.

The Membership Assembly—made up of members in good standing—is the highest authority in the Association. Member status will be verified at registration and onsite to ensure quorum.

The meeting agenda includes reports from the Board, staff, and structural units; proposed bylaws changes; and adoption of official positions. In odd-numbered years, election results are announced. All eligible members and Board members can vote, and any member may submit proposals for consideration by the Reference Committee.

    Bylaws Changes

Deadline for Submission: May 1, 2025

The FNA Bylaws are currently under review by the Bylaws Committee. Suggested changes to bylaws may be submitted to the Committee no later than May 1, 2025 to be considered. Bylaws may be amended at the FNA Membership Assembly by a two-third (2/3) vote of the members present and voting.
