Region News and Updates

Greetings Southeast Region! And Congratulations to all our recent graduates!

With summer now fast approaching, and our second quarter of 2022 nearly over, I wanted to reach out and update you all on the great strides we’ve made working together, and the success we’ve recently experienced.

Our First Annual Nurse Appreciation Event held on May 12th from 3pm – 9pm, and hosted by Florida Atlantic University at the Boca Raton campus in Palm Beach County was a tremendous success! 

Hats off to our amazing event planning committee members Delilah Rivera, Maritess Quinto, Yamiley Theodore, Altavia Evans, Mara Raggi, Angela Bonaby, Deirdre Krause,  and Sydney Goldberg, whose dedication, perseverance, and focus created a magnificent event for all nurses to enjoy!

The event included self-care services such as acupuncture, massage, foot therapy, microdermabrasion hand therapy, guided imagery meditation, reiki, and catered food and beverages. Hourly gift give-ways and keynote speakers kept the event interactive and informative. Our featured silent auction item raised $2,000 and offered one of our nurses a lovely vacation home for an entire week on beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina during this upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Great job everyone!

Through generous sponsor support, we raised $13.5k which earned a $7.4k profit after expenses to our Region! Bravo Team! We are on our way!

Also equally noteworthy, our Legislative Committee, led by Deirdre Krause , was super effective in getting a proclamation from the Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners officially recognizing May 6-12 as National Nurses Week. The proclamation was sponsored by Commissioner Melissa McKinlay, District 6, Loxahatchee. The well-deserved proclamation was presented on May 3rd with several FNA Members in attendance. Nice work!

I look forward to providing future events with the monies raised to date, and we will continue our fund-raising efforts to help grow our region. The Event planning committee has openings for those interested, and there are opportunities for service on the Legislative Committee and other committees as well. Join us!
