Nursing Art and Science: A Bridge to Innovation

Wednesday, June 29, 2022   (0 Comments)

Join us July 16 at the 2022 FNA Research and Evidence-Based Practice Conference!

Nurses are LEADERS. Nurses are INNOVATORS. What are the steps nurses can take to lead innovation in their work environment? What can administrators do to promote a positive work environment and support nurse-led innovation and change? Join us on July 16 as we celebrate the accomplishments of nurse researchers and encourage the development of future nursing research and innovation.

Nurses are making extraordinary contributions in research and evidence-based practice across Florida. The Florida Nurses Association is proud to highlight and promote the work of these nurse researchers and provide a platform for the dissemination of scholarly projects.

The FNA 8th Annual Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Conference will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Sheraton Orlando North in Maitland, FL. This year’s keynote speakers, Susan V. White, PhD, RN, CPHQ, FNAHQ, NEA-BC and Stephanie Sinnett, MS, RD, LDN, will lead the day with a discussion on how innovation begins in the workplace and how it can lead to meaningful changes.  Dr. White and Ms. Sinnett have leadership roles within the VA Healthcare system and play instrumental roles in fostering an environment of innovation for the nurses within the organization.

The conference will also host two poster sessions showcasing the work of 36 projects by nurse researchers. Four projects were selected for podium presentation including A Quality Improvement Project to Increase Vitamin B12 Monitoring in Veterans Who Have Diabetes and Take Metformin by Trecia D. Jones, MSN, RN, CNL, PCCN, Nursing Students’ Acceptance of an Online Computer-based Simulation System Utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model by Anita M. Stephen PhD, RN, CNL, Cardiovascular Disease as a Moderator of GOLD Stage and Quality of Life in COPD Patients by Walter Wills BSN, RN, and Out of the "Life" But Still Out of Sight: The Long-Term Health Effects of Sex Trafficking on Women in Florida by Elizabeth H. Sassatelli, PhD, RN, CNE, Katherine Justus, RN and Corinne Fanta, RN.

This conference offers an opportunity for nurse researchers of all levels to promote their research and evidence-based practice projects, network and collaborate with other nurse researchers in their field and obtain feedback on their findings from peers. Participating is also a great way to develop a statewide reputation and associate your name with a specific topic or area of research.

The Nursing Research Conference is an interactive conference that continues to evolve. We invite you to become a part of its growth and development. We also encourage interested novice nurses to attend this conference as an introduction to nursing research so that they can have first-hand knowledge of how research and evidence-based inquiry can make a difference to nursing practice and patient care. We look forward to seeing returning attendees as well as many new faces at the conference this year. Go to www.floridanurse.org/ResearchConference-2022 for more information.
