Florida Nurses Political Action Committee Plans Upcoming Candidate Interviews – Nurses Invited to Attend This year the Florida Nurses Political Action Committee (FNPAC) will be holding Candidate Interviews on Saturday, July 30. The purpose of the interviews is to determine how candidates align with FNA’s Legislative Agenda. FNPAC exists to raise funds to support candidates that will work with us on issues related to nursing, patients and healthcare. Individual nurses and other nursing organizations are welcome to attend the Candidate Interviews as guests. We want representatives from all aspects of nursing present. If interested, please RSVP at www.floridanurse.org/events. A PAC is a powerful tool in making nurses voice heard. We must make our presence known through both our voice and our donations. We want to make this an EPIC year for the PAC. Please consider donating to support our legislative activities. Five Reasons to give to the Florida Nurses Political Action Committee: - FNPAC endorses candidates that have stated that they will support FNA issues.
- FNPAC vets candidates to determine their positions on nursing and healthcare issues.
- Legislators and candidates actively seek the FNA endorsement through FNPAC.
- FNPAC has a record of success with endorsements over many years.
- Donations to FNPAC provide a way to contribute to the political advocacy for FNA and for nurses and patients throughout the state.
One thing that nurses MUST understand is that it takes VOTERS to influence legislation. As nurses who vote, you can make a difference in your future as well as the care you deliver to your patients. Participation in the association and donations to the PAC are a key element in this kind of advocacy. You can become knowledgeable and have input into the agenda by being a member, by contacting your legislator and becoming a resource and a conduit from the association to the legislator. The FNA website has a page dedicated to political advocacy as a resource to members, students and other interested nurses. You can access this at www.floridanurse.org/Advocacy. BECOME A TRUSTEE: We have openings for new trustees on our PAC this year. Trustees help with fundraising activities, participate in candidate interviews, and vote on which candidates to support. If you are interested in being involved, please complete the application on our website at www.floridanurse.org/FNPAC. For questions about FNPAC, donations or becoming a PAC trustee, email Iris Lopez at info@floridanurse.org
