About the ConferenceThe purpose of this conference is to promote and disseminate nursing research and evidence-based practice improvement projects that are being conducted in diverse academic, clinical, and/or community settings throughout Florida. The Florida Nurses Association is proud to promote the practice of Nursing Research and the work of all levels of nurse researchers. Our goal is to create a forum where experienced researchers can serve as role models and mentors, and potential and novice researchers can hone their skills and receive mentoring and support from their more seasoned colleagues.
![]() Dr. Ashley RiveraAshley Rivera, RN, PhD, Jonas ScholarNot known for being a wall-flower, Dr. Rivera believes in the power of a positive attitude and a smile. She started her health care journey as an EMT, but came to love nursing for the continuation of care aspects. She has a strong love for community health and nursing education at all levels. Her primary practice experience includes Pediatric Hospice, Liver Transplant, Medical Surgical, High Risk Pregnancy, Diabetic Education and Telemetry. Currently she is an Assistant Professor for Florida Atlantic University on tenure-track and her research is primarily focused on the intersection of masculinity and fatherhood as it relates to health promotion, wellness activities, and suicide prevention. ![]() Dr. Lois MarshallLois Marshall, PhD, MN, RNDr. Marshall holds a BSN from the University of Miami, an MN from Emory University, and a PhD in Higher Education from the University of Miami. Dr. Marshall previously held a variety of faculty and administration positions while at the University of Miami School of Nursing where she taught for 26 years before leaving to pursue a consultative career in nursing education, NCLEX preparation, evidence-based practice, research/grants, and career development and management. She most recently received the Florida Nurse Association ICON award for Mentorship in 2019. Dr. Marshall is the Lead Advisor for the Sigma Career Center, the Coordinator for the NSNA Career Center, leads several Academies for Sigma and the author of Take Charge of Your Nursing Career, the book for nurses across the lifespan of their careers, the new and expanded second edition which was published and released by Sigma in October, 2021. She is also the Editor for Elsevier's Clinical Key Evidence Based Nursing Monographs, research monographs for bedside nurses, a product she developed and has been editing since 2007. Agenda

Continuing EducationThe conference will be submitted for approval of contact hours by the Florida Nurses Association (#50-3103). Attendees must sign in upon arrival and provide their RN/APRN license number. Attendance at the entire event and submission of a post-activity evaluation are required to receive CE. No partial credit will be given. Number of contact hours will be contigent upon approval and will not be less than 5 contact hours.
